as some of u might have known that i'm a cantonese and in fact i always treat it as my 1st preferred spoken language(though some might argue its a dialect, not lauguage). to be able to watch the drama serials in cantonese speaks much more to me. i personally think that sometimes e original idea, jokes and lingo of the script got lost during the chinese translation.
a quick look at the HK drama serials that have been churned out, i realize that HK TVB and even ATV have shot a lot of dramas continuously for the viewers. this is sth i always like. i do enjoy local spore drama serials also. the thing is i simply do not understand why they don produce dramas consistently. After a while, the 7pm or 9pm drama slots will be showing HK or China dramas. judging by e no. of artistes Mediacorp has, i definitely don see lack of manpower as an issue. furthermore, they have so many talent shows in a yr. surely they can give some chances for some newbies to display their talents and clock experience. if u are not going to use them, y "select" them? if u are not going to let them clock experience, they will never be experienced!
gone are e days where local spore dramas were lining up one after another like those times in between 1980s to 1990s. realli miss those days. nowadays, they prefer to consolidate a huge pool of artistes and do a mega 100-episode kind of thing. in e end, its e same few bunch of big names 阿哥阿姐 artistes for e main roles to "support" e drama.
well com'on tv drama-makers, don ask wat e viewers and sponsors can give u to do a drama, ask urself wat have u given to e viewers and sponsors in dramas !!!
faithful local drama supporters are still out there waiting, e only way to keep them n expand this pool is to keep doing more n more dramas for them. nevermind if the show is being anchored by any 阿哥阿姐 big name artistes, e viewers will decide who e 阿哥阿姐 are. who would have thought zoe tay, li nanxing, fann wong, tay ping hui etc wld have turned out to be crowd-pullers 10yrs ago?
